🌱 Why Genetic Testing Matters As We Age 🌱

As we get older, our risk for chronic illness rises—and so should our focus on prevention.

The graph on the next page show how your risk jumps from your 40’s.

In 2023 alone, Australians lost 5.6 million years of healthy life to chronic illness.

Today, 59% of women aged 45–64 live with at least one chronic condition. While life expectancy is reaching into our 80s, over a tenth of our lives is spent managing health issues like arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, and mental health struggles. But these don’t have to define our future.

I’m sharing this data because so many of us take a health for granted. We assume good health will continue.

When I saw this quote, it reminded me of Lynsey, our go-to expert and I thought I’d share a quick story.

Back in 2021, while on holiday in Caloundra, I wandered past Lynsey’s office after a yoga class. I noticed some gut health products on the shelves and popped my head in.

What started as a quick chat turned into an hour-long conversation. By the time I left, Lynsey had sent me YouTube videos, testing options, and so much more!
A year later, when I was looking for a health expert- she was of course THE person to join us.

It’s amazing how people come into your life at the right time. Along with our podcast guests, Lynsey’s depth of knowledge has become foundational to our mission here at The Aging Project and You Must Try It—helping women across Australia (and beyond) age well, with her guidance and passion leading the way.

Since that chance meeting, and together with Shelley our mission has never been stronger. Together, our goal is to create our very own modern-day Blue Zone—a community where longevity and community go hand in hand.
